Lowy Institute Conversations: Lord Adair Turner on climate change diplomacy

In this episode of Lowy Institute Conversations, Hervé Lemahieu, the Director of the Institute’s Power and Diplomacy Program, sits down with Lord Adair Turner to discuss the diplomatic jostling between major powers in the lead up to a consequential UN climate change conference in Glasgow at the end of the year, and how technology is dramatically accelerating the prospect of achieving a decarbonised global economy.

Lord Turner chairs the Energy Transitions Commission, a global coalition of major power and industrial companies, investors, environmental NGOs and experts working out achievable pathways to limit global warming to below 2˚C by 2040 while stimulating economic development and social progress. He was chairman of the Institute for New Economic Thinking until January 2019, where he remains a Senior Fellow. From 2008-2013, Lord Turner chaired the UK’s Financial Services Authority, and he was the first chair of the UK's Climate Change Committee from 2008 to 2012.
